Introduced into the country in the mid-nineteenth century, the Possum thrived on the local vegetation with its population soon reaching epidemic proportions. Since their introduction, Possums have devastated vast forests and, as a result, many indigenous species, including New Zealand’s iconic flightless bird, the Kiwi, are facing extinction.

As a consequence, the New Zealand government and various conservation organisations have had to take measures to protect the country’s fragile rainforests and unique wildlife.
