Ethical Fur
- Purchasing a Vulpecula fur helps protect the environment.
- The use of Possum fur is an ethical choice. In contrast to other furs such as Mink and Fox the Possum is not farmed and is a by-product of conservation efforts to protect highly valued native plants and wildlife.
- All Vulpecula furs are collected humanely according to the guidelines and regulations set by the Government organisation, the New Zealand Department of Conservation.
- There are approximately 70 million Possums in New Zealand and they devour an estimated 21,000 tonnes of vegetation every night.
- Possums compete with native species for food and also eat native bird’s eggs and chicks, many of which are close to extinction.
- All Vulpecula furs are sourced from New Zealand.
- New Zealand Possum fur is the only eco-friendly fur in the world.
- The Possum is not farmed in New Zealand for commercial use as it is illegal to encourage an increase in population.
- It is not the same as the North American Opossum. While both are marsupials, they are different species.
- Possum fur is the third warmest fur in the world, after the Polar Bear and Arctic Fox.
- Possum fur is as luxurious and soft as other famous furs such as Mink and Fox.
